Mitsuru Izumo joined the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, Ltd. in 2002 after graduating from Komaba Toho Middle/High School and the University of Tokyo Faculty of Agriculture.

Mitsuru founded euglena Co., Ltd. in 2005 and assumed office as President and Representative Director. He succeeded in the world’s first outdoor mass cultivation of microalgae Euglena for consumption.

Mitsuru was selected as the Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum (Davos Forum), and was awarded the Prime Minister’s Award at the 1st Nippon Venture Awards.
